"One of the most exciting and creative emerging companies in recent years"
The Theatre Blog

Welcome to Punchline Theatre.

"What a first-class ensemble of young talent!... Definitely unbeatable." - Mittelloge.de

Dedicated to producing new and inventive theatre and comedy, Punchline Theatre (formerly DhK Productions) was officially founded after returning from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2014 with JACK & I. However, this followed several previous successes, including IT'S COMPLICATED in Cambridge and London, short-listed for the Cambridge Footlights Harry Porter prize 2012, as judged by Alex Horne (Comedian, The Horne Section): “Without sounding too vain, it was a bit like something I might do … good stuff!”

Following that, their dark comedy set on Beachy Head WAY BACK received glowing critical and audience reviews (5 stars - Three Weeks, 4 stars - Broadway Baby, Recommended Show - Fringe Review), and will be adapted for audio broadcast in early 2016. This ran alongisde the hugely popular GUIDO!, the first of their historical anti-hero musical comedy trilogy, which reimagined Guy "Guido" Fawkes's role in the Gunpowder Treason Plot of 1605 (4 stars from the Edinburgh Evening News, Ed Fringe Review, and The Cambridge Tab: "a near-faultless take on the plotted attack on Parliament … fresh, funny … a thoroughly enjoyable performance which should be commended for its comedic and historical value" - Ed Fringe Review)

The second and third of this comedy musical series, JACK & I - depicting the fruitless hunt for Jack the Ripper - and MATA HARI - the story of the alleged wartime spy and femme fatale - were both shortlisted for 'Best Fringe Show' in the Derek Awards and have ensured cult fringe status: “Likely to be one of the most fun, ridiculous and brilliantly playful shows you will see at this year’s Fringe” - Scott Bird Online; "One of the most original and engaging - and funny, above all funny - productions at the Fringe this year” - The Theatre Blog.

Our work has continued to delight and entertain and a highly successful reworking of our first comedy play - now called 2 COMPLICATED - had a fantastic tour of the South of England this Spring including a sell-out run at the Brighton Fringe Festival (5 stars - Broadway Baby and nominated in the Off West End "Offies" Awards).

We can't wait to share with you our plans for 2020 and we hope to see you at one of our shows!

"Even at their young age, they are already masters of what they do... Popular to point of “cult” status" - EdCringe.com

Want to help us?

We're always looking for people to help out with both the staging of productions to the running of the company. We're already planning a busy 2016, so there are lots of opportunities available. We're particularly interested in hearing from anyone who would like to help fill producer roles, as well as anyone with any marketing experience, especially in theatre.

Don't want to directly help out, but would still like to support the company? We always welcome donations of any amount. As well as our eternal love and gratitude for any donations, we usually have some rewards too. Have a look at our donate page for more information.
